General admission requirements for international students
In general, admission requirements are specific for the different universities because they all are independent and autonomous institutions. But there are some common points that apply to all of them. Here are the documents you need:
Study visa type D required
It is required for applicants coming from the countries outside EU, EEA, and Switzerland
What do you need to do in order to have a Study Visa Type D issued?
You must go to a Bulgarian embassy in your country or the consular office in the respective country and submit a Certificate, issued by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education that you have been approved, valid passport with a blank page for your visa, certificate for paid tuition fee, and a proof of accommodation (rental contract).
Visas are issued to applicants who are enrolled in an accredited Bulgarian university as full-time students. Student visas are not granted for enrollment in Bulgarian (or any other language) courses.
It is a long-stay visa that gives its holder the right to enter the Republic of Bulgaria and stay there for a calendar year and is granted to students who are enrolled for programs of study up to one year, post-graduate or trainee students. It allows you to enter the territory of Bulgaria multiple times within its one-year validity.
